Section 202 program

The first type of housing is available through HUD low-income senior housing. This program pays for apartments that are safe and affordable for low-income seniors. Senior citizens who meet these requirements may apply for the section 202 voucher program. There are also HUD-sponsored housing properties. But before you use HUD-subsidized apartments, be sure to check the income requirements. A family must qualify for a housing voucher if all household members are low-income.

Rent-Geared to Income units

The government subsidizes the rent-eared-to-Income units and may have a long waiting list. The services and amenities offered may be included in the rent, and the services may be free.
